With seasonal holidays on the horizon the kitchen is likely to be the most popular room in the house where most people will mingle and chat so here’s a few important things we think would be useful to include in a family-friendly kitchen:

• An area where the family can sit together and talk, whether a breakfast bar where they can face each other or a table and chairs. Its important not to feel hemmed in or claustrophobic and its important to have space where you can all mingle .

• You want to make sure that if there are  young children around they are not going to be where ovens or hobs are.  The working areas need to be well defined and away from where children may want to play.
