From Classic to Contemporary
The owners of this 1950’s property in Hertfordshire were looking for a change and decided to enlist the help of our senior designer Eve Turner to create an open-plan kitchen-diner. The owners wanted functionality combined with a great social space in their new kitchen area and the main criteria was to create a large island for their growing family to enjoy.
They opted for a contemporary combination of white glass and basalt stone ceramic effect cabinets; a smoked mirror splashback and two worktop finishes: Glacier white Corian and hard-wearing grey Silestone – which was a real contrast to their previous classic maple kitchen, also designed by us here at Neil Lerner.
Filled with lots of special features and functions the island contains an induction hob, teppanyaki hob, plenty of workspace and a raised breakfast bar for the family to relax and socialise around.
Our senior designer Eve also designed a special ceiling unit that houses a Falmec extractor and then clad the outside of it in white glass to complement the cabinetry. The underside is covered in smoked mirror.
