Neil Lerner Kitchens

With three boisterous young sons, ranging in age from 2 to 10, the brief for this spacious new family kitchen in Hertfordshire was a practical and elegant design that would accommodate the needs of a growing family.

For the owners, it was very important that the space should be clean and uncluttered, with sufficient storage space to retain a stylish finished effect that would not date.  Equally, it had to be eye-catching enough to impress family and friends visiting this new-build property!

A tall order?  Not for the neillerner design team.  They are all well versed in providing the elements required.  With the kitchen now the main focal point of every home, it’s vital to combine good looks with functional design; and that’s exactly what has been achieved in this minimalist contemporary kitchen.

The client was insistent on a white floor, which creates a clean, streamlined vista and highlights the garden that can be seen through the large bi-fold glass doors.  The mix of light and dark grey units is a very on-trend look for kitchens right now as they add a much-needed contrast to such a wide open plan area.

Meal times are central to this young family, so fitting a full size table into the plan was a key requisite from the outset.  Our designer Richard suggested a totally bespoke option to satisfy both form and function: a breakfast bar that extends into a table, making it both practical and conducive to family meals. The resultant conjoined island and table in white Corian are a stunning centrepiece to the whole design.

Bespoke features are often required to fulfil a client brief.  At neillerner kitchen design we specialise in tailor-made solutions to kitchen design.  All our furniture is made for us in Germany to our own specification to ensure that it fits perfectly into each scheme.  As a result, we can turn drawing-board ideas into tangible options to solve virtually any kitchen dilemma.  Nothing is impossible.  Try us!

We had a very clear vision of what we wanted from our new kitchen from day one, but it’s also very important to have confidence in your kitchen designer’s ideas as well. Richard listened to us and didn’t push his ideas at all but he did suggest some great ones – like the central island flowing into the table – and then made it happen. We wouldn’t hesitate to use neillerner kitchen design again as they transformed our dream kitchen into an everyday reality.
