Neil Lerner Kitchens

Winning Design

The successful creation of an open plan kitchen lies in a clever combination of design and planning. At neillerner kitchen design, we specialise in open plan kitchens with all the designer elements that stand the test of time. Nothing is out of place because every detail has been carefully anticipated in advance.

This luxurious family kitchen in St. John’s Wood is a perfect example of this ethos. With the whole of the downstairs of the house largely open plan, the owners set us the challenge of coming up with a kitchen design that would fully integrate with the adjacent living areas – namely TV room, utility room, lounge and dining room – all accessible from the kitchen area via sliding doors.

The colour scheme is cool and sophisticated in a contemporary mix of white and grey. The high gloss polar white units are all handleless for an ultra-streamlined look and elegant white Corian has been used for the sink and hob surface area to coordinate with the furniture.

The stunning centrepiece of this designer kitchen is a large island unit that doubles up as a casual eating area and boasts a 100mm thick piece of white/grey marble with a specially designed mitred side panel on one side for added impact.

To keep the minimalist feel of this beautiful home, our Design Director, Eve Turner set about planning sufficient storage space to make sure that everything could be hidden away, yet still to hand when required. She designed a series of full height units for maximum effect, both aesthetically and practically, with plenty of room to accommodate all the appliances specifically requested by the owners.

In all, there are six top-of-the-range Miele cooking appliances built neatly into a bank of the units, plus tall fridge and freezer by Gaggenau sitting side by side. All the appliances are designed to be within easy reach of the island to make family life in the kitchen as convenient and relaxing as possible.

“It’s always a challenge to ensure enough storage space in an open plan kitchen of this size, but we worked hard to find a place for everything and keep the overall effect very clean, stylish and minimalist, as per the client’s brief”
—  Design Director, Eve

“When it comes to planning kitchens, we take into account the surrounding areas so that it blends into the overall scheme.  We are happy to work together with builders and architects, as well as interior designers and the home owners to create the dream kitchen envisaged, as in this case.   However large or small the kitchen, we inject the same amount of care and attention to detail before, during and after installation.  Client satisfaction is always uppermost in our minds and that’s how we measure our success”
